Speaking Fear
Are you one of the many people
who have developed a public speaking
fear? Did you know that this type
of fear is very common? It has been
often noted that people tend to
fear public speaking more than dying!
So, what is it about speaking in
public that is so frightening? It
most likely has something to do
with all eyes being on you at the
exact same time, along with the
probability that there are a number
of individuals sizing you up.
Once you feel as if your nervousness
and uneasiness has been noticed
by everyone, it automatically increases.
Suddenly, your speech becomes awkward
and uncomfortable for you, along
with everyone else in the room.
The tension thickens, and everything
just starts feeling extremely uncomfortable.
Your heart may start to beat faster
and faster, you might even sweat
enough for others to notice. Stuttering
is nothing unusual when it comes
to having a public speaking fear.
To make things worse, you're probably
going to feel embarrassed during
this whole ordeal. While you are
freaking out on the inside, you
might wonder if you're going to
pass out or die. Will your heart
explode? Will you lose all sense
of bodily control? Panic attacks
are very torturous to have to live
with, but people experience them
all of the time, especially when
they are out in public.
How can you get passed your public
speaking fear? By doing it more
often. You just have to stop being
scared of being around people. A
good idea would be to start talking
in small groups and then working
your way up to larger audiences.
If you cannot seem to do this, then
the problem most definitely lies
elsewhere. Think about what it is
about yourself that makes you so
insecure. Start working on changing
and fixing things about yourself
to begin building your self-confidence.
No one really ever notices that
a person is nervous. If your voice
is shaky, people may notice, but
do they really care? If they're
mature, then no, it doesn't matter
to them. Most people are generally
too concerned with what you think
about them to even care about what
you look like or how much you are
freaking out. If you have a public
speaking fear, it can be conquered
by overcoming your panic attacks.
